BayBound

Terms of Use

The short version: BayBound is an independent app, the train data comes from someone else, and your subscription is handled by the store you bought it from.

Who provides BayBound

BayBound is made and operated by Yonaga ("we"). Using the app means you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, don't use the app.

The app store you installed from

BayBound is distributed through the App Store and Google Play, and the store's own terms apply to the download and to anything you buy.

  • iPhone and Apple Watch: the app is licensed, not sold, under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, together with these terms. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and Apple has no obligation to provide support for it.
  • Android and Wear OS: the app is licensed, not sold, under these terms, and Google Play's own terms apply to the download and to purchases.

BayBound Plus and tips

BayBound's core features are free. BayBound Plus is an optional subscription that adds the reminders described in the app, billed by the store you bought it from. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it, and you cancel it in that store, not here. Support says where. A subscription bought from one store doesn't transfer to the other. Tips are one-off, voluntary and not refundable by us; refunds are handled by the store under its own policy.

Train times are information, not a promise

Schedules, live delays and service alerts come from 511 SF Bay Open Data, which we pass on as we receive it. That data can be wrong, late, incomplete or unavailable, and the "leave by" time is an estimate based on what you told the app about your journey to the station. BayBound is a convenience, not a guarantee: don't rely on it as your only source when missing a train would matter, and check with Caltrain for anything critical.

BayBound is an unofficial app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by Caltrain, the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Clipper or 511 SF Bay. Tap reminders are reminders only: Clipper does not share tap data, so the app cannot know whether you actually tapped, and it can't be held to the fares you are charged.

Using the app properly

Don't attempt to break, overload or work around the BayBound service, and don't use it in a way that breaks the law. We may change or discontinue features, and we may stop providing the service, though we'll avoid doing so without warning where we can.

No warranty, and what we're liable for

BayBound is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for missed trains, missed connections, fares or charges, or other losses arising from using the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and you may have rights under consumer law that these terms don't affect.
